About Us
Your Monte Rosa Holidays Specialists in the Resort of Macugnaga, Northern Italy. We are a specialist holiday company that offers winter skiing and snowboarding holidays and summer holidays in the Resort of Macugnaga, one of the most beautiful alpine villages in Italy. Set high on the famous Monte Rosa (Pink Mountain), breathtaking views and spectacular scenery are guaranteed on Europe’s second-highest mountain.
Luca vittore
Luca has lived in Macugnaga all his life and knows everyone so is the obvious fixer in the village. His family own the lovely Hotel Flora, located in the main square, so you will see him every evening working there and talking (he never stops!) in his brilliant, but idiosyncratic English.
He is also a ski and snowboard instructor so you are very likely to see him on the slopes every day and, if you are taking lessons, may well be lucky enough to have him as your instructor!! You may even see him occasionally on the piste snowboarding and hardboarding for his own pleasure. He was one of the first snowboarders in Italy, who invented the sport as he went along. He is a master of speed and carving and his heart lies there.
He pops up everywhere: on the ski bus, doing the odd airport transfer, leading a torchlight descent evening and many many other places. Most of our clients think he must have been cloned as he is in so many places at once.
Katharine sparks
Katharine is married (in Whitby, our favourite British seaside town) to Luca and is very very happy to be able to say there is only one of him. She came to live permanently in Macugnaga at the end of 2009, leaving behind family, friends and a house in Howden, in the East Riding, to live in this spectacularly beautiful little corner of Italy.
She is the brains behind Monte Rosa Holidays (Can you tell who has written this piece?) and organizes every aspect of your holiday through the website, email and telephone. Any special requests, queries, problems and bookings will always be dealt with by her.
In her previous life she worked for the Legal Services Commission in Leeds, but now works for easyJet from April to December at Milan Malpensa Airport and in January, February and March will always be found full time in Macugnaga making sure everything happens as it should and that everybody is having a great time here with us.
When she is not working hard to ensure that everybody is happy, she can be found in a bar or restaurant with clients and friends or on the piste doing a couple of runs on her snowboard.
